I can’t think of a better way to stay warm at night than by using an electric blanket. Now, the person on the opposite end of the bed can’t stand the heat at night and will only use the electric blanket during the absolute peak time of the winter. Really she only uses it about 5 times a year. Instead of having to fight over when it is on or off, we just simply purchased a dual control electric blanket so we would both have control of the temperature on each end of the bed.

This not only keeps us both happy, comfy, and warm at night, but it has limited unnecessary arguments and disagreements…which is always a good thing. There are a few things to look for when trying to find the right dual control electric blanket for your bed. Here are just a few tips to help you out.

Finding the right electric blanket can not only warm your bed at night and preheat the bed before you get in, but it can save you money on your heating bill in the midst of winter as well. Most electric blankets these days are extremely energy efficient and safe. Make sure you find one that is both safe and efficient.

Electric blankets do come in a variety of shapes, sizes, materials, and colors. Know what size your bed is before you go out shopping. The blankets will also come with different options for heat controls. The bigger sizes will usually have the dual control as mentioned above, the smaller ones will not. Many will also have an automatic shut off in case you leave it on, thus preventing the risk of a fire when you are not around. These controls also have the option of timers that will shut the blanket off while you are sleeping if you want it to.

It’s always wise to get a real feel of the blanket before you buy it. Sure there are probably lots of good deals online, but that means you risk getting an electric blanket that is scratchy and uncomfortable. If you find a good deal for an electric blanket online, try to find out what material it is and then go to the store so you can physically get a feel for it to see if you like it.

I would suggest you do the store shopping first, find a few electric blankets you like, then go home and search the internet to find out if you can get a cheaper deal for the same blanket. Most times you can. Never buy a used electric blanket and if you’re not sure if a certain brand is good, ask around.

When purchasing a double electric blanket, or any blanket for that matter, it would be wise to know just what type of safety previsions and precautions you need to be aware of before you make the purchase. Sure electric blankets are going to keep you warm at night and may even cut down on your energy bills, but used incorrectly or in the wrong hands, they do have the potential to start fires and have burnt entire houses to the ground.

Since these comfortable blankets are built with complex wiring, there tends to be some problems that go wrong at times. There may be a short in the controller, the blanket could get tangled up enough for the wires to get split, or the wires could over heat, spark and cause a fire as well. Always keep infants and toddlers away from the blankets and controls. Even the elderly may be at danger because they may not understand how to run the controls and can overheat themselves at night.

Since a double electric blanket is one of the most popular sizes of blankets bought on the market today, here is a rundown of some of the general rules and safety regulations that are included in the tags that come on the blankets themselves.

- Be sure to keep all the cords and plug ins away from the mattresses and box springs. Leaving them too close is a potential fire hazard.

- You should not use electric blankets in sofa beds, pull out beds, couches, or futons that pull out or have moving parts. The wires could get caught in the mechanisms and split and cause a fire.

- Never use an electric blanket on a water bed. If any part of the electric wire gets wet, it could lead to death by electric shock.

- Always let the blankets lie flat and do not allow it to bunch up or fold in an unkempt way.

- Keep kids and animals away from the blanket so they don’t chew or cut the wiring and shock themselves or cause a fire.

- Don’t use anything that could puncture or cut the wires around the blankets. Scissors, pins, drills, and nails should be stored well away from the blanket.

- Always remember to shut your electric blanket down when you are not using it.

- Read through all washing instructions before washing and never use a dryer or iron on your electric blankets.

If you see any signs of damage or improper functioning, be sure to unplug the blanket and return to the manufacturer of store where you bought it from. If it is damaged, never attempt to fix it in any way. It is better to be safe than sorry, so just trash it and buy yourself a new and safe double electric blanket.

Are you a cold blooded person who is always cold at night? I myself am this way and cannot sleep comfortable at night without an electric blanket. I have a king size bed and know that finding a king size electric blanket in the right color and right feel can be somewhat of a difficult process.

First off, owning an electric blanket can be a great way not only to keep you warm at night, but owning one can substantially reduce your heating bills in the midst of winter time. Just turn your heat down and your electric blanket up and you will have no problems keeping warm and saving money at the same time.

Owning a big bed can be somewhat of a pain when buying sheets, comforters, and electric blankets. Not only are they more difficult to get a hold of, but they are going to cost you a lot more money to purchase as well. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. People need their own space when they sleep at night (some more than others), and the price you are going to pay will be more than well worth the comfort. And if you shop smartly enough, you will only have to pay for the bedding one time every handful of years.

King size electric blankets usually come standard with dual heat controls so each person then would be able to choose his or her comfort level. The electric blankets of today are much more efficient in energy and much safer than the electric blankets of old. They are also much more comfortable and come in all sorts of varieties, colors, and sizes to boot.

When looking to buy a king size electric blanket, its best first to know exactly what you are shopping for. Knowing what size of bed, color, and material do you need or want is imperative before heading off to the store or searching online. If you own a king size bed, you may want to check and see if your bed isn’t actually a California king which is somewhat bigger than a normal king.

Look for brand names like Sunbeam, Frontgate, and Softheat as these brands tend to stand up to the test of time and will be a better buy for the buck. When shopping you also have the opportunity buy electric blankets that are hypo-allergenic and wash with ease in a normal washer.

Some benefits of electric blankets besides the fact that they can save you on heating bills are:

-pain relief

-increase of flexibility

-stress relief

-longer, more comfortable sleeps

Be a smart shopper and be sure to search through your local stores as well as the internet to find the right king size electric blanket. Knowing what you need before you shop, and reading plenty of consumer ratings and reviews can help you make a wise buying decision.
